We all are looking for a bit of peace in our lives.
Restorative yoga, with an emphasis on meditation, is a highly effective and trustworthy way of addressing stress and anxiety in our lives, and how we carry this in our body and mind. With this gentle approach to yoga, we shift our focus from the activity of "doing" towards the inner stillness of "being". Rest assured, there are no headstands, no competitive vibes, and nothing fast-paced. Instead, this is quality time for you to slow down, get present, and direct your love and attention towards the self-care and introspection you need. When we bring this kind of intentional quiet into our day, we create the necessary conditions for healing and change to happen. This practice is not only restful and revitalizing, it nourishes our spirit. The effect is deeply therapeutic.
A restorative yoga session typically begins with light, breath-centred movement to settle the body and nervous system into a parasympathetic, relaxed, state. This settling down helps ease the frenetic activity of the mind towards a steady, gentle awareness of sensations. As we slow down we become more attentive, and capable of being present to how things are, just as they are. Gently, we transition into restorative postures, using pillows and blankets, to settle us into a restful stillness. Meditation is woven throughout, inviting us back to the present moment and reconnecting us with our inherent capacity to be compassionate, accepting, generous, and at ease.
This practice is suitable for those looking to balance a busy life, or find healing and recovery from illness, stress, or trauma.
